The visa and passport counters are open for the public from 9.30 AM till 12.00 Noon on all working days (Monday to Friday).However all the applicants are required to collect their respective token numbers from counter no.3 and submit the applications on their turn. As a maximum of 150 tokens for passport/consular services and 100 tokens only for visa services are issued per day the applicants are advised to collect the tickets on opening of the counters at 9.30 A.M.
The normal processing time for most of the miscellaneous consular services is one working day. The time for collection of the documents is between 4.30 PM to 5.00PM.Same day facilities are provided to persons requiring emergency services like urgent medical treatment, death of near relatives etc. However requests for such services should be supported with documentary proof regarding the emergency. Requests for urgent service on the grounds of having ticket for immediate travel/confirmed bookings will not be entertained.
Documents to be included with application:
- Three passport size photographs of the applicant and the same can be submitted in person, through travel agents or any authorized person. We do not insist on personal visits to the High Commission.

***Business Visa will be issued for a minimum validity of one year, with the requirement of registration if stay during any visit exceeds 180 days.
Visa fee in respect of others holding foreign passports (other than Malaysian passports) will be charged in accordance with bilateral agreements/arrangements. Please refer direct to the embassy/consulates
Processing Time:
Malaysian passports: 2-3 working days to issue visas
Other countries passport: 4-5 working days to issue visas
However, in certain categories of cases, the issue of visa is subject to receipt of specific clearances from the concerned authorities and therefore in such cases no time limit can be specified.

Checking on the Visa Status:
Malaysian Passports
- VISA collection at India Visa Centre, Kuala Lumpur: Submission before 1200hrs, collection between 1700hrs to 1730hrs on the next (ie. 2nd) working day. Submission after 1200hrs, collectable between 1700hrs to 1730hrs on the 3rd working day.
- VISA collection at India Visa Centre, Penang & Johor Bahru: Submission before 1600hrs, collectable on the 3rd working day after 1300hrs.
Foreign Passports
- Foreign passports need clearance from the country of origin. The processing time of minimum five (5) working days is required for submission in Kuala Lumpur and seven (7) working days for Penang and Johor Bahru.
- Once Clearance date is available, passports submitted before 11:00am at the India Visa Centre, Kuala Lumpur are collectable on the same day from 1700hrs to 1730hrs. For passports submitted with reference clearance in Penang and Johor Bahru Visa Centres', they are collectable with visa on the third (3rd) working day after 1300hrs.
